Byron was tickled by this phrase, and he said it reminded him of a dispute that had been at Cambridge between his friend Davis and George Lamb. He hinted at my illegitimacy, Lamb had complained. And when Byron asked whether this was true, Davis had replied, yes, I called him a damned adulte raspasted. Now, what you left, not everybody would laugh at that. You see, I've really had an outfit from the letter, but it's a typical Byron. It goes down well with everybody.
