The Transformation of Suffering in the Inferno
In the Inferno, suffering is as you might expect, it is relentless and terrible. Dante himself experiences this no more keenly than when on the last terrace of Mount Purgatory. He says that he would rather have stepped into molten glass than to have entered these flames but yet he does supported by Virgil and others around him. Another key way in which suffering is transformed is when you know that you are known in the difficulty by those around you, you're not alone anymore.
