The Difference Between Love and Ridicule in Movies
Bob Greene says he feels like love and ridicule of bad movies are not as distinct as you suggest in the book. He thinks there's something that is like ridicule adjacent, which is a kind of rhetorical game of playful mockery. And I think that often that's a way to point out something that's interesting or admirable. So for example, there's this wonderful movie that you can stream at least right now on Amazon Prime. It's called Dance In It's On. The idea is that she's expressing something of herself with this. This is her being sincere.
