The Can Do Attitude and the Long Term Implications of Readyness

CNN's John Defterios asked a series of questions about military readiness. He said he thinks there is too much focus on the near term and not enough attention to long-term implications. For example, an F-18 squadron deployed for six months could be transformed into an F-35 squadron in a year or two years if it doesn't get ready now. The same thing can happen with ships that are supposed to come out of maintenance 11 months later than they should have been because their shipyard isn't ready yet.
