Is There a System of Meritocracy in Universities?

We need to have an educational system that builds from the bottom up, he says. The foundations of subsequent inequality are laid much earlier on than in universities. And i think th there's a dangerous fixation on just this funnel of university education - into the elite. What a system of meritocracy means is finding system of allocation which makes sure people throughout society have jobs suited to their abilities and aptitudes.
