The apalache were the major powerful group in the northwestern part of florida, around what's now the florida panhandle. They practised maize agriculture, and maize was a major staple of their et. And they also farmed squash, sunflowers and other crops that had been domesticated in other parts of north america or in mexico. So they had a resilient and populous society.
