The Expectations of the Kingdom of God

The people expected the immediate appearance of the kingdom of God. What that means is it's full complete manifestation including the Messiah's reign on earth. Jesus had been regularly prophesying that that was not what was going to happen this week. He had been teaching them ever since about a year earlier they had confessed him publicly as the Messiah.
