The Kremlin's View on Ukraine's NATO Membership
General John Allen: We have got to be very careful about our expectations with respect to Ukraine joining NATO. He says the commitment and language that comes out of this summit, pledges of support, it's a good outcome. Although Ukraine will feel slighted perhaps that they haven't been given a timeline and absolute deadline - but we'll see. But what do you make of the argument some believe promise of near automatic membership after the war actually gives Russia this perverse incentive to try and drag out the fighting?
