The Link Between Consciousness and Creativity

When some people meditate, they report a sense of not having a self. Can we learn anything about this link between consciousness and creativity ourselves as a matter of deliberate introspection? If the self is a creative thing that deals with problems, if you look and detect no creativity then it would seem to be a reasonable conclusion to draw. What the self is, is a question in need of good explanation, not merely a sensation or an experience.
