Overcoming Physical and Social Barriers

This chapter discusses the various barriers faced by people with disabilities, including physical and social barriers. It highlights personal experiences of exclusion and discrimination, as well as the efforts of disability activists to adapt the system rather than changing themselves. The chapter also explores the origins of disability civil rights activism in California and its influence on the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
