How Can Solicitors Be Affected?
Stephanie Boyce is calling on the JAC to ensure that the judiciary reflects the society it serves. Since 2006, judges have been selected by an independent commission whose members include judges and laypeople. Until now, members of the judicial appointments commission have been reluctant to be interviewed about their work. But Lady Justice Carr insisted practical tests for candidates were not biased in favour of barristers. She said: "We are very alive to the issue of transferable skills"
