What Makes the Chinese Submarines Useful?
If China could throw 200 Type 94 submarines in a US carrier, it would still come out economically ahead. The extraordinary expense of American aircraft carriers is probably the single thing that creates the most lethal environment for the U.S., says Peter Bergen. "Even in World War II, it was pretty rare for submarines just to blunder into enemy aircraft carriers," he adds.
