I was ranked top 20 in the world two and a half years ago. I wasn't all that good or skilled in any of these areas but improved very quickly because I was continually trying things and putting them into action. Having people pay me lots of money to teach them poker really illustrated the parts of my game that were weak that I needed to work on. Working with other people who were maybe just a slightly below where I was but also thought about the game at a very high level did a lot of things right. If you become someone who's continually implementing what's working and then doubling down on that it becomes a hockey stick very quickly.
