Is Predictive Processing?

Predictive processing is a proposal for how the brain solves that problem. The basic idea is that sensory data is noisy and ambiguous. Perception is to a first approximation, is about figuring out what caused sensory signals. That's a problem of inference. This is what abductive reasoning in general it is about. It's about reasoning backwards under conditions of uncertainty. How does the brain do that? this is a really challenging problem in any context.
