Is There an Excuse for Learning Something?

With tech learning, i've found that i absolutely have to have an excuse to learn something. I've tried over and over again to learn things just for the sake of learning them. But like when it comes to programming languages or new data bates technologies,. if i don't actually have application for it, it's not going to happen.
