In order to have a healthy present, need two things, you need a positive past and an exciting and compelling future. If i'm constantly making my past negative by framing it against ideals, then i'm then i've not only devalued it, i've now contextlized it as a failure,. So rather than valuing an experience or d valuing the past, you actualy wnt to increase the value of it. And post tramatic growth happens when you actually start seeing the gains in it.
