Ancient Egyptian Mummification

The brain is always removed during Egyptian mummification. The heart, being the seat of the soul, was left in place in the body. This would not be the only example in ancient Egyptian embalming practices where the heart was taken out and something else was put in there or to replace it. It's assumed that as you alluded to a minute ago, Rob, they were usually moved into anopic jars when they were buried.
