Is There a Difference Between Bangladesh and India?
In north India the rate of joint families is four times higher than in other Indian regions. The nature of India's economic development part with one factor among many may be being the extent of bureaucracy and incentives for firms to stay small. As long as people trust their close-knit kin they may prefer just to stay small among themselves but I don't think that can explain the Bangladeshi India difference because Bangladesh is also a close-knit community. Why has female employment sought in Bangladesh but not in India?
