Jason: How important is one's environment, not only a physical environment, but also potentially as a social one? And could a culture of progress happen anywhere in the world to day, or only in places where there is less of a sort of respect for the old ways. I think ultimately, this is at least one major factor that influences whether progress is made and how fast traiht it happens. The more people you have trying to come up with new ideas, experimenting with new things, testing them out, the more encouragement they will get. Is ims a little over determined?, jason asks.
