Derrida and Sussure: A Comparative Analysis

Derrida's contention is that the Western tradition tradition has historically emphasized speech over writing. In Sussure with his structuralism, Sussure proposes that there are two different ways to talk about speech. And something our brains do structurally with regard to language is we tie particular words to different objects or ideas not necessarily actually connected to any of the syllables that we are actually uttering.
