The Role of Religion in Public Debate

I don't think we should constrain or rule out any sources of moral argument, whether they're informed by faith traditions. All I'm arguing for is a richer, more morally engaged public discourse that doesn't shrink from debate about contested conceptions of the good life. So I would favor a more capacious and more expansive conception of public reason and public argument than certain liberal political theories allow.
