Well, it's so I can monitor the sound. And this is really important because it means that I can make sure that the sound is not too low. As I go a little bit further away from the microphone, if I sit back to a more comfortable position, I am further from the microphone and the sound is a lot different compared to when I'm sitting right on top of it.
