The Philosophical Impulse

I wanted to write essays and reflect in a way that I just didn't grasp at St. John's that that's not what a philosopher does. Being a writer is being a writer and being an academic is being an academic. Academic philosophy isn't simply limited to the question of whether or not to become an academic philosopher. Examination means something much broader and it's important to a lot of kinds of things that you would do in life that you would love to do, including writing.
