The last print edition of the oxford english dictionary was 21 thousand, 730 pages. The estimate from people i have spoken to working on the third edition is that if and when they finish the third edition it will be twice the size. That's one of the things that happens when you don't ever take anything out. Every once in a while they seemingly remove a word, but actually all that they're doing is their moving it to n place. And lexicography is a tricky business ys make the judgment calls that you have to make.
