Is There a French Influence in the Sahel?
France still has five thousand troops under ground, with some support from the united states and other european countries. I think there's no question that france sees the sahel as kind of its zone of influence. It sees itself as the pre eminent, you know, foreign actor there. Other western countries defer to france on tha atman. But i think t they've gotten kind of am a ththey're trapped a bit in their own thinking and feeling that they can kill their way out of the problem.
