The Poles Climb Everest

The first pole to climb Everest was Vandaruht Kivich who reached the peak in October 1978 with the German team. Christophe Vielitsky recalls the winter ascent sitting in his house near Chastajovah in southern Poland next to his friend Lessek Chikr. Andrze Zavada, an experienced mountain expedition coordinator had noticed that no peak above 8,000 meters had ever been conquered in winter conditions. Their expedition aimed at starting a new era of mountaineering and giving a clear message to the world. The Poles are still in the game and they have a strong desire to be the winners.
