The Life of a Federal Prisoner

Inmates live in dormitory-style rooms. There are no doors to the rooms, so there's little privacy. Each room has a table and four folding chairs that must be folded up against the wall when not being used. Inmates make money from working $0.12 per hour, up to about $0.40 per hour. The US prison system runs its own factories on inmate labor. When not working, inmates can take classes, attend religious services, exercise, read books from the library, watch TV, do legal research, and receive visitors.
