The Marriage of Quequeg and Ishmael

There is a special companionship between Quequeg and ishmael that is part of the core of the story. As we learn more about the characters, there will be darker currents. But you know, in general, we get Ishmael's jubilant, carefree attitude, which overrides even the dark motivations that drive him. There will always be darkness in the background of Moby Dick, just below the surface, like the sea, right? You look at it from above, it looks blue and lovely, but underneath, it's dark indeed.
