The Narrative and Numbers
In his book, Uber founder Travis Kalanick writes about an exchange he had with Bill Gully of Benchmark Capital. He initially valued the company as a car service business but later realized it was more than that. After COVID hit, Kalanick asked him to put a number on how muchUber would be worth if it weren't for ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft. The new figure is four times higher than what they were originally valued at in their original valuation.
