The Importance of Predicting Tornado Warnings
Researchers want to better understand the tornado, but also predict it. The average lead time on a tornado warning is about 13 minutes. Could we conceivably get it to 30 minutes and give people advanced warnings so they could protect themselves? Researchers want better predictions in order to help save lives. Yet those same predictions enable more chasers to accurately pinpoint where and when a tornado will strike.
