Rick Gill-Fillon: The Problem With Direct Contracting
Congress has placed the means to say, look, you can take everyone in the program and do a coding intensity factor. If MedPAC says there's three or 4% of extra coding revenue that's going out the door, CMS could instead of increasing it by 6%, increase it by 10%. And that would solve the problem as far as the treasury is concerned. But it wouldn't solve the problem in terms of the amount of attention that's going into this, because it creates a zero-sum game.
