The History of Sparta

Lysander directed all the left over funds from the war chest into the state treasury at sparta. He forbad aid the full citizens, that is, the spartiate warrior nobles, from using any forms of currency except large iron spits. Now there were spartan fixers, harm osts, commanding in most of the new allied cities in asia and the aegean islands. And when these spartans left sparta and the laws of lycurgus, there was little to restrain them from getting their hands on sizable fortunes very quickly. The person whom the most money of all was flowing was, of course, lysander.
