The Empire of Augustus
I think what it's important to know is that Augustus doesn't emerge from a republic that is felt to be working well right by the time Augustus kind of makes himself so ruler. The Republic has been utterly kind of paralyzed by civil war for at least half a century. And so I think that there is a real sense by thetime Augustus comes on the scene that like the current system isn't working.
