Aspiring writer to actual writer pipeline is so much like free work and side hustle. So for me, I worked in advertising for years writing comedy on the side for short form publications. For a lot of people in scripted, there is a path that starts with being someone's assistant. You write a sample episode of the show, you write monologue jokes while you're doing whatever full time job is,. Is paying your rent.
