Mrs Fisher was trying to enjoy the battlements which she had taken for herself but was having difficulty. There was a shared drawing room with French windows opening directly onto that space. She could not be certain the other women wouldn't take advantage of it, and so she had the staff block the entrances up as well as they could to deter people. When it was time for lunch, the gong was wrong and Mrs. Fisher promptly went to the dining room. The others were late.
