The Importance of Awakening to Buddha-Nature

The Mahayana way of thinking arose a few hundred years after the Buddha's death. It proposed that our true nature is eternal, joyous, selfless and pure. But this true nature has become obscured by self-concern and related delusions. Since all beings possess Buddha-nature, it is possible for them to attain enlightenment regardless of what level of existence they occupy.
