The Matilda Effect
The Matilda effect is a systematic under acknowledgement and under representation of women's contributions. Marietta Blau invented a photographic technique as a particle detector, but never won it. Cecil Powell and Bristol in 1950 was awarded the Nobel Prize for basically the same thing with better equipment without no acknowledgement from the Nobel Committee. And then when something is so systematic, you realize you haven't heard about them because you go into the history of science book section there are 10 books on Ernest Rutherford, but zero books on Harriet Brooks.
