Lonnie Donnegan scored his biggest U.S. hit with the age-old novelty song, does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight? Cliff Richard's backing band The Shadows are best known for their U.K. chart-topping instrumental, Apache. Later that same year, another British instrumental act, the Tornadoes, topped the Hot 100 with their space age surf rocker about a telecommunications satellite,. It reached number one by Christmas 1962. In between these two instrumental hits came an even quirkier hit, with vocals, yodeling vocals to be exact.
