The History of Signals Intelligence
The NSA was officially founded on November 4th, 1954. But its roots go back to 1917 when a man named Herbert O. Yardley became the head of this newly created thing called the cipher bureau of military intelligence. According to the office of the director of national intelligence, there's six types of intelligence sources or what they call collection disciplines. And those three comment, elent and fissant are all under the umbrella of signals intelligence.
