Gilevans was already doing this in 1949. It's one of the remarkable things about listening to this is that, you know, nothing sounded like this before, but nothing really sounded like this after either. Not even the 11 collaborations they soundedlike this after. You're just like, what? Yeah, some of those early tracks were so early. And it was really like he was following that template. He was taking the birth of the cool template and treating it as though that we're an established kind of jazz ensemble, which never really happened.
