Gnostic is an idea of representation that the God we think in the Judeo-Christian world is Jehovah, is Yahweh, is actually an imposter called the Demiurge. The Archons try to gobble up those people who have these sparks of divinity. Twin Peaks is very much about the Archons and Gnostic in part.
