International relations as a sub field, is focused entirely on sovereign states. And yet much of what has shaped the discipline and shaped foreign policy discourse comes out of the legacy of empire. One key difference between now and edward in britain is that then therewa were anti imperialist, nationalist movements taking off over the place. How have these two contexts shaped the imperial apologists? Youre looking at in terms of who the british imperialists were arguing against then, and how, in to day's context, was so little in the way of anti imperialist politics.
