CHAPTER

The Future Matters More Than the Past

There's an ongoing debate in philosophy about whether the bias towards the future is rational or irrational. Whether one option is risky or less risky than another can depend on whether you're counting the stuff in the past that sort of already baked in, might forses be correlated with what can happen in the future. If the future like, will happen, so its ome point, it will matter bu but inasmuch as it's uncertain, the past matters potentially even more. But interestingly, we have this very strong intuition that the future matters more than the past. And on the other hand, many people have the intuition that the past is sort of real in a way future isn't.
