When Fred Koch died, his kids inherited a bunch of money and shares in his company. In 1968, the year after his father's death, Charles Koch left the John Birch Society over their support of the Vietnam War. He discarded the conspiracy riddled far-right nonsense of his father for the political theories of Robert LaFevre. Because of this, some people call him an anarchist, which is inaccurate. Anarchists do seek the abolition of the state, but it's not in everyone for himself ideology.
