The Value of Friendship

Lonely people may be less dependent on other people, according to a new study. The idea that the value of friendship is ultimately derivative from the value of friends seems weird but it's commonsensical, says author Andrew Keen. Even small interactions with your barista or someone else you might happen to run into can do an awful lot to give you the sense of validation of your own value, said Keen.
