The Teacher's Fear and the Emotional Obstacle
Teachers are often scared to teach subjects that they don't know much about, like the war of 1812 or Canterbury Tales. The Whitney wisdom curriculum has works of art incorporated into it and a coach in Mad River mentioned a teacher who was resisting a particular work of art because she thought it would be scary for students. We were just having conversation actually with our director of literacy this morning about how do we help teachers build their knowledge a little bit around some of these more like scary topics if you want to call it that.
