Shui Shou Hui: I'm trying to build a scholarly society in China based on the pure pursuit of notes, has nothing to do with politics. But then as you rightly point out that things start to change, because even like people like Gu Jia Gang, they were trying to pursue intellectual autonomy. However, the social and political environment in China had such profound impact on their individual existence. So much so that Gu JIA Gang had to run away when the Japanese took over Beijing, because he believed that his name was on the black list of the Japanese army.
