The Different Types of Extension Cords

I wonder if this is an international thing where different countries have different names for this thing. The British use would be foregang plug, which is that you plug one into the socket on the wall and you end up, there's a cord and then there's four sockets, six sockets there. I don't know what the translation of that would be for various other countries, but that's what I'd call an extension cord.
