One of the next things that astronomers would like to do is build a telescope whose primary focus is on imaging a nearby habitable planet and really studying it in detail. And so telescopes like that are already on the drawing board. Since it takes so long to develop a space telescope, have they already begun to think about another model to do even more? Of course.
