The Psychology of The Fool

CHAPTER

The Fool's Journey

Taro derives from the 15th century Italian illustrated playing cards, known as Trionfi. The fool is commonly depicted as a man holding a white rose symbolizing innocence and purity. He is willing to sacrifice everything for the trip - he ends up marrying the son's daughter. Taro is also called the fool's journey because of its similarity to the hero's journey. In the last card, there's a large laurel wreath, symbolizing wholeness in which the fool becomes the cosmic dancer and world-solved.
